Mr. Hegde has been awarded by several entities like the Government of Karnataka, The Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Banks and Financial Institutions. He is a philanthropist and also an avid photographer who loves to travel and explore the world.
Over 45 Years of History and Innovation
Mr. Ramanandan Hegde founded Nandu Chemical Industries in 1978, after completing his master’s degree in Chemistry from Karnataka University, Dharwad. As a young man embarking on an entrepreneurial venture, Mr. Hegde had the vision to start a pharmaceutical industry as he saw the right opportunity in the pharmaceutical domain, and wanted to contribute to human welfare and well-being by manufacturing world class products.
In the year 1981, the manufacturing of pharmaceutical grade Sodium Chloride was commenced at Nandu Chemical Industries, Hubli.
Nandu Chemicals Private Limited, Belur was incorporated in the year 1986. Subsequently, Nandu Chemical Industries and Nandu Chemicals Private Limited diversified into manufacturing a wide range of inorganic salts used in IV and dialysis solutions, electrolytes, nutritional supplements, confectioneries, mineralised/bottled water and personal care.

February, 1978
Inauguration of Nandu Chemical Industries, Hubli by Shri S. R. Bommai (Former Chief Minister of Karnataka) and Shri Channappa Chanbasappa Mulgund

The machine was switched on by the renowned industrialist, Shri R. N. Shetty. 
1994
Visit of Shri Ramakrishna Hegde (Former Chief Minister of Karnataka) and Shri Ganesh Hegde (Former Chairman of Nandu Chemicals Pvt Ltd) During the Construction of Nandu Chemicals Pvt Ltd, Dharwad. 
1994
Visit of Shri. Ramakrishna Hegde to commemorate production of 1000 tonnes of Sodium Chloride at Nandu Chemical Industries, Hubli. 
1996
Dr. Syed Ibrahim (AIN Medicare) Signed an Exclusive Agreement for Supply of APIs to Malaysia, the First Overseas Market for NANDU 
1997
Nandu Chemical Industries Received ISO 9001 Accreditation from TUV Rheinland, Germany. 
2001
Developed and launched Key Products and began exports for Gulf Nations. 
2007
Received the First Export Excellence Award from FKCCI. 
2008
Developed a New Product with Customized Specifications for South Africa Market.
